• Bastille: Historically, the Bastille quarter is one of the major places of Paris. Built at the end of XIIIIth century, the Bastille was a former fortress which was transformed into State prison. It became the symbol of the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789, when the revolutionaries took it by assault. Today, you can admire the Place de la Bastille, the Column of July 4th, 23 meters high, symbol of Freedom, set up to celebrate the fall of King Charles X but also the famous Opera Bastille.
• Père Lachaise: The Père-Lachaise Cemetery is the biggest Parisian cemetery (44 hectares) and one of the most famous in the world. Numerous celebrities’ tombs are here: Balzac, Sarah Bernard, Chopin, Delacroix, Jim Morrison, Modigliani, Molière, Edith Piaf and Oscar Wilde
• Nation Place: The Nation Place is decorated with a magnificent pond representing a group of persons, in bronze, symbol of the “Republic’s Triumph”. The "Republic" stands on a globe and looks towards the Place of the Bastille, so creating a republican axis, which is very frequently taken during popular protests or strikes.

• By RER/Metro: Take RER B from airport, direction: “Robinson” or “Saint-Rémy” to “Gare du Nord”, then take line nº2, direction “Nation”, to “Avron” station. It takes about 50 minutes.
